Terms

License

Tappy is free. You are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the software on any Mac you own, for personal or commercial work alike. It is licensed, not sold — nothing here transfers ownership of the software itself.

Usage

You may install and use Tappy on as many of your own devices as you like. You may not sell it, redistribute modified copies, or reverse-engineer the application.

Compatibility

Tappy relies on hardware features Apple does not officially document — reading the built-in motion sensor to detect a knock on the case. Compatibility therefore varies between Mac models and macOS versions, and a future macOS update could change or remove that access without notice.

Tappy tells you which mode it is in: open the menu bar icon, and it reads either Ready (the motion sensor is working) or Trackpad mode. If your Mac has no usable sensor, Tappy still works by counting taps on the trackpad instead.

Because Tappy is free, there is nothing to lose by finding out — download it and check the menu bar.

Actions You Configure

Tappy can press keys, open applications, run an Apple Shortcut, or run a shell command you supply. It runs exactly what you configured, under your own user account. What those actions do — and any consequence of them — is your responsibility, in the same way as anything else you choose to run on your Mac.

Payment

There is none. Tappy is free, with no purchase, licence key or subscription, so there is nothing to bill and nothing to refund.

No Warranty

Tappy is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. The developer is not liable for any damages arising from the use of this software.

Changes

The developer reserves the right to update, modify or discontinue the software at any time. These terms may be updated periodically, and the current version always lives on this page.
